Glazing Bars, Magnetic Keeps, Door Restrictors& Finishing Up
16.1 Glazing bars are supplied as 10m bar lengths (2x5m) with 13m tape - the tape will need to be bonded to the lengths of the bar
16.2 Once the glass is fully installed, ensure the glass is clean (we recommend using a saline solution or glass primer)
16.3 Measure the gap between glass divides and cut the glazing bars to suit
16.4 Clean the underside of the glazing bar using a saline solution or primer
16.5 Place tape on the underside of the glazing bar, ensuring it remains central along the bar (we recommend that a roller is used for this to ensure strongest bond)
16.6 Before removing the red backing, offer the bars up to the glass and check for size, trim as required
16.7 Remove red backing of the tape and press bar firmly onto the glass
NOTE: Magnetic keeps are only provided on configurations that have a folding back lead door, and as such are not available on Single Doors, French Doors, or Even Door sets
17.1 Open the lead door almost 180° until the handle is approximately 10mm from the adjoining door and hold in position
17.2 Position the complete magnetic keep up between the top of both doors and move along until it is wedged between them, as shown (FIG 17A)
17.3 Using a pencil, mark the magnet holder position on the lead door, and then close the door
17.4 Return the magnet holder to your mark and move up or down to position in the centre of the door profile - the centre of the hole should be 26mm down from the top of the door
17.5 Using a 3.5mm drill bit, mark the door through the hole in the magnet holder, as shown (FIG 17B)
17.6 Remove the holder and using the 3.5mm drill bit, drill a hole on the previously made mark through two skins of aluminium
17.7 Install the magnet and cover plate
17.8 Place the two halves of the magnetic keep together
17.9 Open the lead door against the adjoining door to locate the second half and mark with a pencil
17.10 Fix in position as previously described and install cover plate
18.1 Check you have all the parts
Restrictor bar
Sash pivot
Sliding casing
6 x 4.8 (19-20mm) Self-tapping screws
18.2 Prop the door open to its maxium desired opening angle (FIG 18A)
18.3 Ensure the slider stop is engaged by placing A (FIG 18B) against a hard surface and pushing down on the restrictor arm - this will require some force and should result in a click (the restrictor arm should no longer be able to slide up and down the slider housing once this step has been completed)
18.4 Fit the sash pivot to the top of the door 60mm from the end of the black polyamide strip on the hinge side using two of the screws provided - the sash pivot should be fitted onto the black polyamide strip tight against the aluminium on the inner side of the sash (FIG 18C)
18.5 Insert the slider casing into the top track making sure it is still connected to the sash pivot in the location shown (FIG 18D) - fix into place using the remaining four screws provided (a 4mm pilot hole is required when fixing into the Low Threshold)
Insert fixing plugs provided into the 13mm holes drilled into
19.1 the jambs
19.2 We recommend you use expanding foam to fill the gaps between the outer frame and building on all four sides
NOTE: The weather seal around the outer frame to the building is the responsibility of the installer - sealant and trim kits are available tpp purchase from Origin
