FAQs
A normal door usually has the primary purpose of improving room segregation, sound insulation and/or security against intruders rather than retardance to flames, smoke and heat
A fire door, on the other hand, has achieved a fire-resistance rating signifying its effectiveness in slowing or stopping the spread of fire and smoke throughout a building
The most common type of domestic fire door is classed as FD30 - having been tested in a controlled environment, to resist flames and smoke for 30-minutes
NOTE: The Origin Internal is not currently fire-rated
• If replacing internal doors, like for like with no existing fire doors, there is no requirement, and our Internal Doors are fine to use
• Fire rated doors are legally required in the building between an integral garage and the house
• If building a loft conversion any doors to an escape route will need to be changed to fire doors to help prevent fire spreading
• New build or renovated homes with three or more storeys, including loft conversions, must have fire doors to every habitable room off the stairwell
• It’s a regulation to fit HMOs with Fire Doors - including one for each bedroom, living room and one for each entry point of the kitchen to protect occupants and make sure that exit corridors are well protected and isolated
